For my final project at SCAD I decided a long time ago that I wanted to illustrate a book about Greek gods and goddesses. My professors said No. "Humans are not your strength Veronica, why don't you illustrate some cute animals for a younger audience?" This time, I was the one to say No.
Don't get me wrong, I usually do as they ask me. But this time it was my last project at SCAD, I wanted it to be big, to be different, not more of the same I've been creating for a while. I worked for months on my sketches and after a while of pitching this to my professors, when they saw my progress they finally said yes. I delivered the project, 4 gods and 4 goddesses, 2 illustrations each: one portrait, one full page.
By the end it felt so good to hear my professor say "I was not expecting this from you, and it is great, I can tell you worked really hard and I honestly have nothing negative to say about it, good job!"
A book with information about the main gods and goddesses of the Greek mythology. Final project for my SCAD Illustration M.A.
